Ceramic Coating
Ceramic Coating is a great new way to refinish Door Hardware, due to it’s huge array of finishes available. At Armada, we are using this technique to create fully matching suites of Ironmongery on many commercial projects.
But why might you use this on your project instead of more common finish techniques such as PVD or Powder Coat?
- Incredibly tough finish – In tests, Ceramic coats are shown to have up to 330 times more corrosion protection than PVD. They also have superb wear and abrasion resistance and have been tested successfully on over 6,000 cycles. This means that Ceramic coating is a great solution for commercial applications or on areas with heavy usage. You can be confident that the finish will withstand years of use.
- Competitive pricing – Whilst more expensive than Powder Coating, Ceramic Coating is competitive when compared with PVD or Anodising techniques. There is also relatively little set up cost, meaning no minimum order quantities.
- Versatile – Ceramic coating can be applied to almost all metal substrates. This means that that there is a wider choice of products that it can be used with. It can also be re-applied in the case of any damage.
- Consistent – Due to their composition, all ceramic finishes are completely consistent, with no batch variations. This means that firstly, all products will exactly match each other, and secondly, any future additions will match the original products.
- Environmentally friendly – Ceramic coating is REACH, RoHS and PFAS Free. The durability of the finish also means that items will last longer, reducing the need for replacements in the future.
- Refined – Ceramic finishes look stunning and are very tactile. Ceramic Bronze tones also compare well against PVD Bronze finishes.
- Super thin – Coating thickness can vary but they typically fall between 5 and 50 microns, meaning that all details in your handle design will be preserved. This is great for products with knurling details or where there are tight tolerances. It is also a significant advantage over Powder coating.
- Antimicrobial resistance – Whilst the standard Ceramic finishes do not have any special Antimicrobial benefits, it’s possible to add an invisible extra layer which has antimicrobial properties, making this a great option for limiting the spread of diseases.
Send your project inquiry to Armada and we will create a fully matched schedule of stunning Ceramic-finished Ironmongery!
