Care of Stainless Steel ironmongery finishes

Here are some tips to help you care for and maintain stainless steel door furniture:

Regular Cleaning

1. Use Mild Detergents: Clean with warm water and a mild detergent. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or scouring pads as they can scratch the surface.
2. Soft Cloths: Use a soft cloth or sponge to wipe the surface. Microfiber cloths are particularly effective.
3. Rinse and Dry: Always rinse thoroughly with clean water and dry with a soft cloth to prevent water spots and streaks.

Removing Stains and Fingerprints

1. Specialist Stainless Steel cleaners. We recommend Nordicare Stainless Steel Cleaner and Polish Spray. This removes streaks, smudges and residue as well as leaving a protective film. Apply with a soft cloth.
2. Vinegar Solution: For fingerprints and light stains, a solution of equal parts vinegar and water can be effective. Spray it on and wipe with a soft cloth.
3. Baking Soda Paste: For tougher stains, make a paste of baking soda and water. Apply it to the stain, let it sit for a few minutes, then gently scrub with a soft cloth

Preventing Damage

1. Avoid Harsh Chemicals: Do not use bleach or other harsh chemicals as they can damage the finish.
2. Protect from Scratches: Be cautious with sharp objects and avoid dragging items across the surface.
