What is a Control Suite Masterkey System?

Armada supply many masterkey systems to the projects that we work on. These vary in size and complexity from simple one level systems with just a few cylinders through to complex multi level suites for hundreds of doors.

Generally these larger systems involve multiple sub suites which all operate independently of each other – for instance you might have a ‘maintenance’ sub suite with all the riser doors on and a ‘cleaners’ sub suite which allows access to store doors.

However, this system doesn’t allow for any crossover of access between user groups – if a maintenance personnel needs access to one of the store doors within the cleaners suite, they will have to be given another key; either the cleaners sub suite master that will open everything in the cleaner’s suite, or the individual key for the store door that they need access to.

This may not seem a big issue in itself, but when you have a number of doors within a building that regularly require access from multiple user groups, it can become difficult to manage.

In these situations, a Control Suite system can be the solution.

In simple terms, a Control Suite system differs from a traditional masterkey suite in that the user groups are integrated and not independent of each other.

To build a Control Suite system, simply list all of the user groups of a building (e.g. Manager, Staff, Visitors, Maintenance etc) across the top of a spreadsheet, then list all of the doors with locks down the side. You can then look at each door and tick all of the user groups that you want to be able to access that door.

When you are done, you need to decide how many keys you want for each user group. Generally with a Control Suite system we don’t supply individual keys for each lock due to the added complexity of these systems. This means that you may need more keys for each user group than with a more traditional masterkey system.
